Valentine love birds

A super cute valentine’s day card which is easy for the kids to make.

You will need lots of different patterns on paper or different pieces of material like the ones you can see on the big peace bird that we made. Cut out templates of love birds and then the kids can just stick on the different patters. For younger kids you will then have to cut around the patterns to keep the shape of the bird.

This is a fun and cute idea to make those valentine’s day cards!

Peace day classroom display

Because of Peace day this is a brilliant project to do either with your class or as a department, to make this beautiful classroom display.

Get the children to bring in old pieces of material, its better if you get a variety of colours and patterns. Make a big dove of peace and then get every child to stick a piece of material on the dove.

As you can see it is very effective and makes a wonderful classroom display, it can also be used for a big bulletin board in the corridors. To add to the classroom display is a title saying we all contribute to peace and an explanation about the dove of peace.

This story book teaches the children about sharing and being kind, it’s a great book to use in your PSHCE lesson. The activity to do after reading and talking about the book is for the children to colour in or paint their own rainbow fish but leave one scale white to then stick glitter and make it shiny. These fish make a colourful and great display panel.

Everybody loves this book, and its a great book to use as a teaching resource for your lesson as it gives lots of different options for class activities and work. This display panel was made with children in reception after reading the story.

A great way to break your lesson is to do this activity with the kids, you could either do it as a lesson or send is as work to do at home. If you did it as an activity you could previously cut up lots of different shapes from different coloured card and let them choose. Create a small role area for the children to play in out of a display panel.

Using different teaching resources you can create different areas in the classroom for the children to interactive and play in. Here is an example of a small display panel area turned into a role play. Using a simple background and adding a bit of card to make it look like an Italian restaurant, the children can play with plastic food and toy money imagining they are in an Italian restaurant. They can take orders and count money with each other.
